Solvay appreciates your visit to this website and your interest to work with us. The Solvay Group (“we”) are strongly committed to maintaining your privacy when you visit our sites. This Privacy Statement explains how we, and specifically the Solvay entity or entities you choose to apply to, collect and use your personal data in the context of our Applicant Tracking System/recruiting platform. We will do everything possible to guarantee that the data you provide us will remain confidential and are used only for the purposes described here.
In the context of your application to a job or the creation of your profile in this recruiting platform, you are asked to acknowledge that you have read and understood this privacy statement by clicking on “I agree” below.
Which information do we collect?
When applying to a job or creating a profile in this recruiting platform, you are required to provide some personal information. The functionality to search for jobs is available without filling in any personal information. In order to create your profile or to apply to a job, you have to provide:
• personal data such as name, e-mail address and phone number
• your CV containing information like your education and work experience
We do not intend to collect any personal data concerning racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation or health, except if this is required by law in the country in which you are applying for a position.
You are responsible for ensuring that the personal data you provide is truthful, correct, non-ambiguous and up-to-date.

Why do we collect personal information?
We collect your personal information with the aim to enable you to apply online and to allow us to handle your application. If your profile matches the job, you may be contacted for further selection. Your personal data is processed on the basis of it being necessary in order to take steps at your request prior to and when considering the possibility of your employment and of entering into a contract with you.
We will be unable to consider you for employment if you do not provide us with these details. In some countries, we collect personal data about you from third parties, such as references supplied by former employers, subject to applicable local law requirements.
We might use your e-mail address to invite you to participate in a follow-up survey on the recruitment process. Your participation in such a survey is completely voluntarily.

How do we protect your personal data?
We take the security of your data seriously. The organisation has internal policies and controls in place to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed, and is not accessed except by its employees in the performance of their duties. Please read the ‘SOLVAY Data Protection and Privacy Policy’ for more details on how Solvay generally manages personal data. Access to databases or systems holding data about you are restricted to authorised users.
We take appropriate measures to maintain the confidentiality of your personal details. We use a variety of methods to help us to ensure the security of your data and to prevent third parties from viewing them, such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption, and firewalls. Nevertheless, we are not responsible if your personal data is suppressed or viewed by a virus, hacker, or system failure.
Where we engage third parties to process personal data, they do so on the basis of written instructions, are under a duty of confidentiality and are obliged to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of data.

How do we use cookies?
Our sites use cookies technology. Cookies are small data files that websites save to your hard disk or to your browser's memory. Certain cookies will be sent to your device when you visit our sites, subject to your consent where required.  
We use cookies for session management in order to authenticate candidates and to keep information such as the candidate language and other preferences. All session cookies are temporary and expire once the session is closed or expired.
We and/or our service providers also use analytics cookies such as Google Doubleclick cookies which help us collect information on how users use our site. We use the information we get from such cookies to improve our sites and services. These cookies may be used to count the number of visitors to the sites, to determine the most viewed pages or to analyze user behavior (e.g. visit duration, consulted pages, referring pages). Who do we disclose your data to?
This recruiting platform is run under the responsibility of Solvay. Information that you provide in this platform will be stored and processed by Solvay’s nominated supplier, Oracle. Oracle processes your personal data, without being assigned responsibility for the related business process. Oracle can process personal data only as per the instructions from Solvay, not for its own purposes. 
Your personal information will only be accessible to authorized persons within Solvay and its subcontractors who/which need to know such personal information in order to accomplish their respective missions, in particular
● Companies working on our behalf that need this information to provide us with services in the context of our recruitment platform and recruitment process. These companies respect the use of personal data described in this Privacy Statement.
● We may further disclose to third parties 1) to comply with the law requiring such disclosure; 2) to protect the personal safety of the public and the users; 3) to protect national security; 4) to enforce our rights in litigations or investigations; or 5) to prevent a crime.
Prior to transferring personal information to recipients located outside the EU, we ensure that the destination country provides an adequate level of data protection, or, if it is not the case, the appropriate safeguards such as a data transfer agreement based on the EU Commission’s model clauses are implemented.

Are you allowed to access, modify or erase your personal information?
You have the right to access, modify, erase, request the restriction or oppose the processing of your personal information or request the portability of the personal data you contributed, without any expenses and at any moment, and you may request from us to erase your personal data on your behalf. Where the collection and processing of your personal information are based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Upon withdrawal of your personal information we will no longer consider you as a candidate in the recruiting process for a specific job opening. You can modify or erase your details via “Access my profile” and “My Account Options”, or exercise your other rights by contacting us by email via privacy@solvay.com. Via this email address, you may also give us instructions about how to handle your personal data in the event of death. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
We are not responsible for third parties who have had access to your data from any other source other than our database and if they do not suppress your details from their databases.

May we delete your personal information from our database?
In the event your application is unsuccessful, we may keep your personal data for the purpose of considering your profile for future opportunities that may arise, unless you request that your personal data be deleted. If your personal data has not been modified for twelve months (US: 36 months), it will be automatically deleted from our database. You may modify it as often as you want.
We do not guarantee that our services will be available continuously. In case of an interruption of service, we are not responsible for the possible loss of your personal data.
We reserve the right to erase your details without your consent and we are not responsible for the possible loss or suppression of your personal data.
Please do not transmit sensitive information to us such as your ethnic origin (this can however be provided voluntarily by applicants in the US at the applicable application phase), your political opinion, your philosophic and religious opinion, your membership of a trade union or a political party, your physical and mental health, your sexual orientation, a legal proceeding, your National Identity number or your Social Security number.
If you gain successful employment with us we will retain your personal data and transfer this into your personnel file. A separate privacy notice will be provided in these circumstances.

I understand and agree that:
Registering my personal data by creating a profile does not constitute an application.  To apply for a position I must register my personal data by completing a Profile, link my Profile to a specific job opening and submit a completed Employment Eligibility Questionnaire.  In addition, in the US, there are three further requirements that determine whether an individual is indeed an applicant:
Employment Eligibility Questionnaires older than 180 days will not be considered;
All information submitted in the Profile and Employment Eligibility Questionnaire indicates the individual possesses the minimal qualifications for the specific job opening; and
The individual has at no point in the company's selection process, prior to receiving an offer of employment from the company, removed himself or herself from further consideration, or otherwise indicated that he or she is no longer interested in the specific job opening.
